GLOSARY:
1.Customs : The section of an
airport, etc., where baggage is checked for illegally imported goods and for
goods subject to the payment of duty.

2.Travel agency : An agency that arranges and negotiates flights, holidays, etc,
for travelers .
|
3.Hostel : An inexpensive, supervised place to live while
travelling.
|
4.Ticket : A slip of paper that shows the holder has paid a fare or
admission or is entitled to some service.
|
5.Single ticket : A one-way ticket.
|
6.Return ticket : A ticket for the return portion of a trip.
|
7.Cruise : To sail about on a pleasure trip.
|
8. High season: The most popular time of year at a holiday resort, etc.
|
9.Traveller's cheque (U.K.) / Traveler's check (USA): A cheque in any of various denominations
sold for use abroad by a bank, etc, to the bearer, who signs it on purchase
and can cash it by signing it again.
|
10. Fortnight: A period of fourteen nights and days; two weeks.
|
11.Destination : The place to which a person or thing travels or is sent.
|
12.Waiting list : A list of persons waiting, as for reservations,
appointments, living accommodations, or admission to a school.
|
13.Tent : A movable
shelter of cloth, etc., held up by poles and held down by stakes in the
ground.
|
14.Luggage : Suitcases, trunks, baggage.
|
15.Steward: An employee on a ship, train, or airplane who waits on
and is responsible for the comfort of passengers.
|
16.Platform: The raised area along the tracks of a railroad station,
from which the cars of the train are entered
|
17.Cabin : An apartment or room in a ship, as for passengers.
|
18.Excess baggage: Passenger baggage weighing in excess of the allowed
amount.

19.Excursion ;
Outing : A short trip or outing to some place
|
20.Tripper : A person who goes on a pleasure trip or excursion; excursionist.
|
21.Inn : A small hotel; lodge.
|
22.Frontier : The border between two countries:
|
23.Tour : A long journey including the visiting of a number of
places.
|
24.Guide; Courier: To assist (a person) to travel through, or reach a
destination in, an unfamiliar area, as by accompanying or giving directions
to the person.
|
25.Guidebook: A book of directions, advice, and information for
travelers or tourists.
|
26. Passenger : a
person traveling in an automobile, train, etc., esp. one who is not the
operator.
|
27.Reservation : An arrangement to set aside something for guaranteed use
at a later time, as a room in a hotel, a seat on an airplane, or a place at a
restaurant.
|
28.Timetable : A schedule showing the times at which railroad trains,
etc., arrive and depart.
|
29.Jetlag: A temporary disruption of the body's normal biological
rhythms after high-speed air travel through several time zones.
|
30.Seat-belt : An arrangement of straps designed to keep a vehicle
passenger firmly secure.
|
31.Itinerary : A detailed plan for a journey, esp. a list of places to
visit.
|
32.Arrival : A person or thing that arrives or has arrived
|
33.Suitcase : A piece of luggage, esp. for carrying clothes while
traveling.
|
34.Airliner: A passenger aircraft operated by an airline.
|
35.Stopover: A brief stop in the course of a journey, as to eat,
sleep, or visit friends
|
36.Half board: The daily provision by a hotel of bed, breakfast, and one
main meal.
|
37.Aisle : A walkway between or along sections of seats, shelves,
counters, etc., as in a theater, church, or department store.
|
38. Gate: A passageway in a
passenger terminal or pier that leads to a place for boarding a train, plane,
or ship.
|
39.Check-in: The act or fact of checking in.
|
40.Passenger : A person traveling in an automobile, train, etc., esp.
one who is not the operator.
|
41.Passport : A document issued by a government to a citizen,
establishing his or her identity and right to travel to and return from other
countries.
